| What Compressor do |
| It compresses the audio read from stdin. It does not compress it in time (and therefor in filssize) but rather the amplitude (volume). In short you could say that it is a volume-controled volume controler. As the sound gets more silent compressor amplifies it and the other way around. This gives a smooth laid back to music etc. Radiostations use this a lot (too much IMHO). |
